As a 17 year old, I got my first real job at a used car lot, located at the east north corner of Western Ave and Washington Blvd. in Los Angeles. I was a little discouraged to learn that my job was to wash and detail all cars in the lot, but little by little I found my way to the body shop and started learning about prepping and paint, I was there about a year, and then a little break allowed me to get an opportunity at Bon Voyage Garage in Santa Monica, I honed my skills there, and when the painter left for greener pastures, I was ready. After half a dozen years, and the politics of management changing, it was time for a change of scenery.
The top body man of Bon Voyage had left a couple of years before to venture on his own, my brother, his protogee, had become an excellent body man and mechanic, decided to go with this venture, and he made it easy for me to make this transition, the year was 1986, by 1992, A1 Quality Auto Salvage have transformed from a junk yard to one of the the top shops in the the South Bay. We built some beautiful cars, some were feature in several magazines, including my own little project.........Well, after 13 years, one would wonder, is this all there is?......
