What I really, really want....

After a few moons of working on this Golden Targa, we have changed a few things, and now that our client has road tested, a few things came under review.

Though the whole interior has been re done with suede, leather and the skin of some exotic birds, a few things seem to be out of place or out of date.

From this angle, the shift knob is really an eye sore. so much difference from the LED courtesy lights on the foot well, we are going to keep those and replace the knob.

Now.  from this angle you can agree that the steering wheel really needs to go, even though we gave it some skin, still, it does not cut it,  We are going to need MOMO,  Millennium Evo to be exact. It is a cool looking wheel that will go the modernized version of this Targa.

The E brake handle was not made to our client liking, so a billet piece will have to replace one half of it to avoid wear and tear.

In a few days we will see the delivery truck with all our goodies and our list will get shorter, should be fun, we also order new front blinstein sports struts, and our second test should take place.

At the end of the tunnel....

...there is light...

 We got a little sidetracked while waiting for parts and dealing with the drama sometimes this place goes under,  needless to say, morale was a bit low this week.

But there is no need for crying over spilled milk, a set back can only make us stronger.

So let's get back to the fun side of Axiom,  the reinvention of this 74 former Targa.

 The 3.1 litre is in and now it's time for some fabrication, the intercoolers will be placed under the quarter panels, with custom plumbing to the 70mm throttle body,  twin oil-less turbos attached with V band and custom exhaust with a center outlet.

 Pro 128 ECU with all the goodies in it, capable of  using flex fuel without changing maps,  this is how the big boys play....



I know it is taking longer than anticipated,  but I can see the light now.

Give me a Brake !!!

I know everyone likes a good tune while cruising down the highway, but if the boom boom keeps you from hearing the gggrrrrrr of your brakes, it's to to turn the radio down.

When working on brakes (yes,  I do some grease monkey duties every now and then) like I said, when it comes to brakes I get a little militant about it, specially in cars that have been sleep for several years. 

Some ignore the sensor squeaking noise:
1. They can hear it...to busy on the phone.
2. They can hear it, music's too loud.
3. They think nothing is wrong when the pedal goes too far down.
4. And some think that all you need is brake pads.

On cars that have been stored for more than 10 year:  I tell you what I think, moving parts live only by moving, this year we have to awake two of these and our customers wonder why all the brake system needed to be replaced;  Well, let's take a look shall we: 

1. Brake fluid, needs to move, if it has a chance, you will find it inside the brake booster.  remove the fluid before storage and the seals of the master cylinder and calipers will retract, making very difficult to bleed when trying to revive a system, not to mention that they will dry out.

This 1981 Targa awoke after 12 years of storage, and it took a good amount of Dollars to replace everything in the braking system, no point in asking for more power if you cannot stop.

Mild to Wild .....

A while ago some guy who has a Chevy told me that after the 1970 Chevelle SS 396 there is no other car that is cool as that,  he might be right, we did build him a very beautiful one.  But that was in my days of American Muscle,  but with air cooled cars, the party goes on and on..........

I have worked for Axiom Motorsports for over a decade, and I can bet a dollar that we have not done the same thing twice

If you go out today and buy your dream car, I can assure you that you will find something you wish it had, or didn't have.

It might take a little longer that on the TV show, but if you dream it, I am confident that we can built it.

This 1979  Golden Targa has all kinds of bells and whistles, everything but the chassis has been modified, or customized,  the targa rear glass was left to remind us of what it is and how old it is.

So what does "SC" stand for ?? The answer is "Super Carrera". Following on from the Carrera 2.7, the SC model was to have been the last 911 produced, as the "new" 944 model was to have conquered the world. But following unprecedented demand for the SC and a less than enthusiastic public response to the 944, plans were changed and the rest is history.

The year was 1979, when this SC came to life. for decades it roamed the streets of Los Angeles, and   It did have a good run, but being a daily driver took a toll on it.

Once the engine was so tired to carry on another mile, it was time for a make over,  and it has been a big one:        I tell you, one things will always lead to another.
The engine needs rebuilding......wait a minute, why not upgrade???      "Oh Boy, oh boy...this is gonna be great"
Turbo engine, turbo body, suspension, sway bars, 19" wheels, 993 headlights, 964 front bumper modified to take 993 fog lamps, 993 door handles and aero mirrors.

Modified rear bumper to take a custom muffler and tail pipes.

Custom intercooler, fuel management system, manual boost controller, alcohol injection, rear view camera, and sensor on both front and rear bumpers.

State of the art sounds, satellite radio, radar detector, and a whole lot of other electric gadgets.

The interior in wrapped in leather, suede and some other exotic skins.
